Deck Restoration

Over time, sun, rain, and foot traffic take their toll on deck surfaces. Our restoration process includes cleaning, brightening, sanding rough areas, replacing damaged boards, and applying professional-grade stain or sealer to bring your deck back to life.

After cleaning, we apply a wood brightener containing oxalic acid to restore the natural pH balance of the wood and open the grain for maximum stain penetration. We allow the wood to dry completely, typically 48-72 hours depending on weather conditions, before applying stain. This patience during the drying phase is critical because applying stain to damp wood traps moisture beneath the coating and leads to premature peeling and blistering.

Fence Staining & Sealing

A properly stained fence lasts significantly longer than an untreated one. We spray and back-brush stain for full penetration and even coverage on all fence types including cedar, pine, redwood, and composite materials.

Our spray-and-backbrush technique is the industry gold standard for fence staining. The sprayer applies a heavy, even coat of stain quickly across the broad surface, while a crew member immediately follows behind with a brush to work the stain into the wood grain, end cuts, and crevices that the sprayer alone cannot fully penetrate. This two-person approach delivers the speed of spray application with the thorough coverage of brush application. For privacy fences, we stain both sides to ensure uniform protection and prevent moisture from being drawn through unprotected surfaces.

Choosing the Right Stain

We help you select between transparent, semi-transparent, semi-solid, and solid stains based on your wood type, condition, and desired appearance. Each option offers different levels of color and protection.

Transparent stains offer the least color but allow the full beauty of the wood grain to show through. They are ideal for new, premium-grade lumber like cedar or redwood where the natural grain pattern is a design feature. Semi-transparent stains add a hint of color while still allowing grain visibility and are the most popular choice for decks. Semi-solid stains provide substantial color coverage and are excellent for older wood where you want to mask discoloration and weathering while still maintaining some wood texture. Solid stains act like a thin paint, completely covering the grain, and are the best choice for wood in poor cosmetic condition or when you want a uniform, opaque color.

Maintenance and Restaining Schedule

Even the best stain job requires periodic maintenance. We recommend restaining horizontal deck surfaces every 2-3 years and vertical fence surfaces every 3-5 years, depending on your climate and sun exposure. We offer maintenance programs that include scheduled inspections and touch-up staining to keep your outdoor wood looking its best without the hassle of remembering when service is due.
